Textiles allow me to create autobiographical works that explore ideas related to memory, history, time, and mystery. I use both new and repurposed cloth, articles of clothing, paper, dyed and printed materials, hand and machine stitching, and found objects to piece together wall installations that speak to both the universal and the personal. Meaning remains allusive and elusive; symbols and text are sometimes part of the artwork.

Suzanne DeCuir began has a painter but has been transitioning to textiles She has been a student of Tom Wudl in Los Angeles for the past 7 years. Previously, she studied painting at Otis College of Art and Design. Suzanne also holds a BA and MA in English from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in both California and Washington state.
