My art derives from my love of painting. I am an abstract painter. Color is very important to me. I am an oil painter. How color is used to accentuate, to blend, and to express thought and emotion is essential to my creative process. I am inspired by the work of many artists including Georgia Okeefe, Agnes Pelton, Picasso, Helen Frankenthaler. My desire is to create images that both appeal to me and surprise me.
Shelley Miller is a Marriage Family Therapist in private practice. She has a BA in psychology from UCLA and a MA in Educational Psychology from Northeastern University She worked as a school psychologist for LAUSD. She was the publisher of UnityLA, a magazine written by teens and young adults of color . She has served on the board of Imagine LA providing support to homeless families.
